Basin Bathhouse is an experiential project for Glasgow’s canal quarter, produced by Clara Weale and Nikki Kane.

Temporarily inhabiting and transforming an under-utilised site at Applecross Basin, Basin Bathhouse will be a space for shared experience, centred around a wood burning mobile sauna, brought to Glasgow specially for this project.

The Bathhouse will be in situ for a period of four days over the May Bank Holiday 2019 (Friday 3rd - Monday 6th May) offering free sauna sessions and encouraging consideration of the canal’s past, present and future as a place of work and rest. Accompanying the Bathhouse will be a programme of artworks further exploring themes of labour and relaxation, tangible and intangible heritage.

The sauna sessions will be a guided process - limited to five people per hour to ensure we can offer an experience which is thoughtful, relaxing and safe.

Basin Bathhouse has been made possible through support by the Glasgow Canal’s Stalled Spaces scheme and Scottish Canals.

Booking for the free sauna sessions is open now on Eventbrite
